A good earth is essential for electric fencing. Earthing an electric fencing system ensures that the current can flow back to the energiser, which is how the electric fencing shock effect works. The goal of a good earth is to reduce earthing resistance and thus ensure a good level of shock from the enclosure wire.

Good conduction, enough earth stakes and proper connection between them and to the energiser is an absolute requirement for that.
