For safe application of rat poison, you must use an enclosed bait station that you can fix in place. Then the bait is protected against children or animals (pets) getting access to it. In addition to that, the rat can eat peacefully in shelter, which increases the chance of bait uptake. Using bait stations makes rat control effective and safe. There are specialised rat bait stations for brown or black rats.
